Minh chứng rõ ràng nhất về việc CHF được coi là nơi trú ẩn an toàn là trong cuộc khủng hoảng kinh tế và chính trị xảy ra trên khắp Châu Âu vào năm 2008. Giới thiệu về đồng Franc Thụy Sĩ
Franc - đồng nội tệ của Thụy Sĩ lần đầu tiên được Cộng hòa Helvetic giới thiệu vào năm 1798 và được lưu hành cho đến năm 1803. Franc được sử dụng trong giao dịch hàng ngày cùng với các loại tiền xu và tiền giấy nước ngoài. Năm 1848, Hiến pháp Liên bang Thụy Sĩ tuyên bố rằng chính phủ Thụy Sĩ sẽ là quyền lực chính thức duy nhất được phép phát hành đồng tiền quốc gia. Do đó, vào năm 1850, thông qua Đạo luật tiền tệ liên bang, Franc Thụy Sĩ (CHF) đã trở thành đồng tiền quốc gia. Năm 1865, Thụy Sĩ gia nhập Liên minh tiền tệ Latinh và đồng ý với tiêu chuẩn vàng cho đến năm 2000. Và vào năm 1945, CHF được neo vào USD.
