ความสำคัญของสกุลเงินหยวนจีน เหรินหมินปี้
หยวนจีน เหรินหมินปี้ (Chinese Yuan Renminbi) เป็นสกุลเงินที่ใช้ในสาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีน โดยจำแนกออกเป็น 2 ส่วน คือ หยวนจีน และเหรินหมินปี้ คำแรกคือหน่วยสกุลเงินจริงสำหรับระบบการเงินของจีน ในขณะที่คำหลังคือหน่วยของเงิน สกุลเงินจีนในอดีตไม่ได้รับความนิยมในตลาดการเงินโลกเนื่องจากการควบคุมที่เข้มงวดของรัฐบาล อย่างไรก็ตาม ในปี 2016 เหรินหมินปี้ถือเป็นสกุลเงินทั่วไป (Fiat) ที่มีการใช้กันมากที่สุดเป็นอันดับที่ 5 ต่อจากดอลลาร์สหรัฐฯ, ยูโร, เยน และปอนด์อังกฤษ หลังจากการลดค่าเงินจีนหลายครั้ง CNH ถูกกองทุนการเงินระหว่างประเทศ (IMF) เพิ่มให้เป็นหนึ่งในสกุลเงินสำรองในตะกร้าสิทธิถอนเงินพิเศษ (SDR) ส่งผลให้ตลาดจีนเติบโตขึ้นอย่างมากเนื่องจาก CNH สามารถใช้สำหรับเงินกู้ระหว่างรัฐบาลได้
