Tenkan-sen

The Tenkan-sen is one of the lines/components of the Ichimoku Kinko Hyo indicator developed by Goichi Hosoda. The line is plotted by calculating the midpoint between the highest and lowest price of a financial instrument over the last 9 periods. The equation is as follows: Tenkan-sen = (Highest High + Lowest Low)/2 The Tenkan-sen can be used for different forms of signals, as some traders consider it as support and resistance, while others use it in conjunction with the Kijun-sen to identify potential Buy/Sell opportunities.
