Core Consumer Price Index

An economic indicator, released monthly by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which measures the average price change of a basket of consumer goods and services, excluding food and energy. It is a tool that is used to identify periods of inflation. A high figure is good for the currency, while a low figure is bad for the currency.
