Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD)
An oscillator developed by Gerald Appel. The Moving Average Convergence/Divergence (MACD) is a momentum oscillator consisting of two moving averages. The fast-moving average is a 12-period Exponential Moving Average (EMA) whereas the slow is a 26-period EMA. The crossing of the EMAs indicates a change in the direction of the market. A 9-period Simple Moving Average of the MACD is known as the Signal line. It may be used in conjunction with the other two lines to provide faster signals.
