Empire State Manufacturing Index

A survey that is carried out by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York on about 200 manufacturing executives. The index reflects activity in the manufacturing sector of the state economy. The report is released every month and the survey covers factors such as new orders, capital investment, employees, etc. A higher-than-expected reading is good for the US Dollar where a lower-than-expected reading is considered bearish.
