Divergence

A disagreement in the direction between the price and the oscillator. It is usually an early indication of a potential reversal of the predominant trend. A divergence is indicated in an uptrend when the price registers higher tops, while the oscillator displays lower tops. Similarly, in a downtrend, a divergence is spotted when the price registers lower bottoms, while the oscillator displays higher bottoms.
