Channels

A technical tool used to analyse and forecast future price moves based on historical and current data. It consists of two parallel lines, basic and return/channel line, that act as potential support and resistance levels. When the price reaches the lower line, a rally to the upper parallel line is expected. Hence, a potential Buy order may be in place. Similarly, when the price reaches the upper parallel line a decline in price is expected to follow with a potential Sell trade in place. When the price breaks out of the channel, it is expected to move at least a distance equal to the width of the channel.
